Brief Biography

Euthimios Panagos has over 10 years of experience in technology research and development with expertise in the areas of distributed data management, event notification, workflow management, high performance messaging platforms, document archival, data integration, and knowledge management. Four years of project and small group management experience. Two years of start-up experience: management, strategic planning, engineering, marketing, and client engagement.

Euthimios is currently the Vice President of Knowledge Engineering at Voicemate, where he leads the design and development of services that enable businesses to create and deliver voice knowledge (such as messages, commentaries, conversations, and conference calls) by using regular landline and cellular telephones or any Web browser.

Prior to joining Voicemate in 2000, he was a research scientist for 4 years at AT&T Labs - Research, where he focused on event notification middleware, workflow management, messaging platforms, and document archival. While at AT&T Laboratories, he helped design the AT&T Internet Service Platform to support a multi-billion venture between AT&T and British Telecom, and the ATLAS unified messaging system that offered unified access to email and voice mail to about 500 researchers. In addition, he designed and built the initial version of omniNotify, a scalable implementation of the CORBA Notification Service.

Euthimios began his career in 1993 as a software engineer at AT&T Bell Labs (now part of Lucent Technologies), where he designed and implemented transactional storage managers that were used by Ode, an object-oriented database management system, a massively parallel multimedia storage engine, and the very first Interactive Television project (Video on demand) in the mid 90s.

Euthimios has played an active role in a number of professional and academic organizations. He has published many papers in highly competitive international conferences and journals. He has served as a panelist, program committee member, and reviewer for many conferences and journals, and he is a co-inventor of several patents. Euthimios holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from Boston University, and a Diploma in Mathematics from National and Capodistrian University of Athens .
